C4D (Communications for Development) and Training Specialist Position

Position:                     C4D (Communications for Development) and Training Specialist

Location:                    Vientiane or Pakse

Reports To:                 Laos Country Director

 

Contract Length:       One Year Renewable

Purpose:  This position supports the use of participative communications applied for annual village planning, village level monitoring and feedback and awareness raising campaigns in all WCL project – it is an addition to our programming approach to build greater ownership and sustainability. the role will entail training, coaching, supporting action learning and enabling the projects to implement and then monitor and learn from these approaches.

A secondary role for this position to lead is the initiation of a training unit – the successful applicant will be a skilled trainer/facilitator who can read curricula, apply adult learning and lead training workshops that are highly professional (raising WC Laos profile and able to charge professional rates).

RESPONSIBILITIES

·         To train project staff in facilitation, transformational development and C4D approaches

·         To support implementation of C4D activities through demonstration, coaching and facilitating action learning.

·         To support projects to identify and implement effective monitoring approaches – and to enable the results to be shared and discussed at community and project level.

·         To help develop, through action learning, effective 2 way communication and engagement approaches that allow Laos village based groups and western support groups to plan, learn and celebrate progress together in a way that is mutually empowering and transformational.

·         To lead training modules for WC Laos and other INGO staff, enabling effective applied learning (with coaching and follow up).

Minimum Skills & Education required:

·         Excellent training and facilitation competency (Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with the poor.

·         Demonstrated skills in computer, typing and data entry (MS Office)

·         Advanced -level spoken English and ability to communicate with US donors; fluency in Lao.

·         C4D competency – proven ability in photography, taking and editing video footage, ability to facilitate photo voice in community.

·         Community based facilitation, PRA, planning and analysis competency – proven experience and a strong theoretical framework required

·         Experience and competency in facilitating action learning

·         Highly motivated to be creative and to use communications approaches in innovative ways
