Establishing Disaster Information Systems (EDIS)

The Establishing Disaster Information Systems (EDIS) short term activity is intended to assist the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) initiate the development and strengthening of the disaster information systems at the district, province and national levels. Disaster information systems will support the process of effective identification of disaster risks and underlying risk factors and therefore contribute to more comprehensive preparedness and response initiatives. The activity, to be implemented by SCA with the technical support of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC) and the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO).
This activity will be an extension of SCA/ADPC’s LANGOCA short-term Tools for Disaster Risk Assessment (TDRA) activity, which will focus on establishing a similar risk assessment system in Sayaboury district and a historical risk and hazard database for the province. EDIS will implement similar risk assessment activities in Xieng Hone, and include an emphasis on linking the district and provincial information systems to the national system.
