The Right to Food of Ethnic Groups in Kham District, Xieng Khouang Province

The overall objective of the action is to contribute to the promotion of human rights and democratic reform in Xiengkhouang province through the strengthening of Lao civil society and the empowerment of rural communities. The action has the willing to have longer-term benefits on Xiengkhouang population as its participates at provincial level in a better implementation of laws, programs and policies referring to the Lao rule of law and UN conventions related to human rights and vulnerable people’s participation but also in the strengthening of Lao civil society and the empowerment of these communities. The specific objective of the action isto promote, enhance and claim the right to food of ethnic minorities in Kham district of Xieng Khouang province.

The action addresses the rights of ethnic minorities in a concrete manner by giving them the opportunity to improve their food security strategy. The action also provides the communities with relevant information on Lao laws and policies related to their access to land and natural resources and legal aid to assert their rights. This is implemented through an equal partnership between SAEDA and CCL.
